STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has unveiled a commemorative license plate to honor the events of September 11, 2001.
The new plate features the date of the event, the American flag and silhouettes of first responders and civilians, in addition to the iconic phrases “Never Forget” and “United We Stand.”
The price of the commemorative plate varies depending on whether you receive a plate number assigned by the DMV or you choose to customize the number.
Assigned plates cost an initial fee of $85, with an annual renewal fee of $56.25. Customized plates cost an initial fee of $116.25, with an annual renewal fee of $87.50.
According to the DMV, $25 of the annual fee will go toward the World Trade Center Memorial Scholarship Fund.
To order a 9/11 Remembrance plate, residents can visit their local DMV building or visit the DMV website.
